One of my friends came past after school to play some board games. We had a hard time choosing, but finally started playing Monopoly, the Australian edition. It’s just slightly different. We got heaps of dollars and instead of train stations, we had airports. It was fun.
No jumper needed
This week, was the average temperature around 21 - 22 degrees. I didn’t wear my jumper all week. It was beautiful how the sun was shining. We played softball in SLR and sat comfortably on the front lawn during recess and lunch. There are flowers popping up all over and the bees are coming out.
Forget spiders and snakes, they don’t come out until summer, but with spring in the air, the birds have started swooping already. I have felt them trying to swoop me a couple of times, but I have the impression they are practicing and not really hitting anyone just yet.
I even heard a kookaburra laughing at me.
It is definetly not winter anymore.

School
This is week 6. There are 10 weeks in a term. Week 9 and 10 are prelims. That leaves us with week 7 and 8 to prepare for them.
You can feel everyone is starting to get nervous, because prelimanary exams are the exams where Australian students have to show that they understand the material of year 11. Universities look at your results to determine whether you could get early access, but they mostly check your HSC results, which are the exams at the end of year 12 and if you do well there, you get a higher chance of getting in the course that you want.
So right now, my classmates are getting ready for the prelims. If they do well there, they know they are ready to face the HSC’s. I’m sitting the prelims as well and I really underestimated the amount of curriculum I will have to memorise. I hope I will be alright…
Saturday
They call this road the Scenic Drive, I think it’s obvious why.
Saturday morning I attempted to make peanut snaps. I am not completely sure whether they are Dutch or Australian, but either way the’re really good and mine turned out pretty well. I accidently made heaps, so we can keep enjoying them for a while longer…
In the afternoon, I took my bike to the lake. It was absolutely stunning. I had to pass the hill and then go all the way down, which gave me an amazing view of the nature that surrounds Griffith. It was far and after 2 hours I was pretty tired, but I have enjoyed it.

Sunday
After church we paid a visit to Cocoparra National Park for a picknick. Unfortunately, we couldn’t go in the park because of a helicopter operation, but I still got to see a bit of the nature surounding Griffith and we held a lovely picknick out of the trunk of the car.
